- During spring and summer, animal shelters in the US are inundated with kittens. About 71 percent have to be euthanized for lack of homes.
- About 584,000 cats enter animal shelters in the US every year as strays and only 2% of those are reunited with their owners, according to the National Council on Pet Population Study & Policy. Why? Too many owners fail to put identification on their cats.
