*UPDATE* Houdini is still being co-fostered by my neighbor and I, but needs a forever home still. He is now potty trained inside the house with supervision! This puppy has a heart of gold, and such a joyful soul. He needs a family to achieve consistancy as he is currently spending the days with my and nights my my neighbor. He has learned to walk at a heel, and is doing great at learning indoor manners! Please help save this little guy's life! He deserves a second chance for us humans to not fail him again.
This little angel is Houdini. On December 2nd a very bad human abandoned him in the alley behind our house. My neighbor heard a yelp, car doors slam, and then tires spinning on the gravel. Upon investigation she found this adorable little puppy. He had obvious hair loss all over his back, bones poking through scratched skin, and smelled as if he had never been bathed. We contacted several shelters who all stated they could not treat a dog with mange, and that he would be put down upon arrival. He looked into my eyes, and I know we had to give him a chance. We took him to my vet where he was diagnosed with an untreated flea allergy, worms, and ear mites. All he needed was a flea preventative and an occasional antihistamine, and he never would have lost his hair. He has been treated and has finished his antibiotics, worm, and ear mite treatments, and is now ready to find his forever home. We are co-fostering him as we each have a houseful of already rescued fuzzy kids. He is between 4 and 6 months old, and weighs around 35lbs. He has a clean bill of health, and is getting much better at potty training. He is great with kids, big dogs, little dogs, and even slightly grumpy old dogs. We have not had him around a cat yet, so we can't say how he will be. For being so mistreated by humans, he is still so affectionate and wants to please!
