  FCDF Home > Hobo's Corner

Hobo’s Corner is named for a sweet pug who lived to the age of nineteen despite all odds and whom we couldn’t save. Hobo belonged to a “nice” family who only took him to the vet for rabies shots. He lived outdoors alone, through cold and heat in a plastic house with no bed. His eyes clouded, his gait grew painfully slow and yet his continued existence seemed proof to the owners that they had done enough. His sad tail wags at the slightest attention should have made us do more – insisted that he be loved and sheltered but what person can do that at age eighteen?

Decades later we’ve been blessed with more resources and more resolve and our goal is to make sure that an animal never falls through the cracks again if we can help it. Hobo’s Corner is a supplement to all of the dedicated and effective rescue organizations in this area. Hobo’s Corner ensures protection, medical care and socialization for those wonderful animals that deserve a remaining life of unqualified love but otherwise might not be another rescue group’s priority. Check Hobo’s Corner for that very special animal that might be your new pet.

Pookie
Hi. My name is Pookie and I am a 4 year old female Lab mix. My previous owner wasn't very nice and kept me in a cage outside all my life before I was rescued and so I’m pretty scared of most people and loud noises. Before my foster parents took me in, I would run and hide when I saw people. I’m still pretty spooked, but my foster parents had a lot of patience with me and now I’m feeling a lot better, but you will need to be extra patient with me until I get to know you. I love other dogs though, its just people I’m nervous around. I’m looking for a new kidfree home with, loving, patient parent(s). I’m already house trained using a doggy door and am a great watch dog. I like to spend a lot of time outside in the yard and would love to drag you around for a nice long walk. My favorite things are rawhides, treats and to be petted, loved on and brushed. I would love more then anything if there were other dog(s)in the house to show me the ropes, cause I get along with them great, but I wouldn’t mind getting all the attention being an only dog. I’ve already had all my shots and am spayed. I am a sweet, lovable dog, so please pick me, I really need a family to call my own.
